Website / CMS Design & Development

Project Industries Clothing Company (or simply Project Industries) is my other artistic endeavor. The website and e-commerce compontent feature my limited edition designs for apparel. Who doesn't dig hoodies and tees right? Right.
Other than the coding of the site I was responsible for everything else; conceptualizing and design of the logo and the website, booking the models, photographer and the location for the  photoshoot (which I also directed), and designing the look book. Oh and of course the apparel...I designed that too.

Case Study

Background

Project Industries Clothing Company required a complete branding solution from the ground up.  They didn’t even have a name, much less a logo.

Audience

The site and the clothing are both geared to anyone who is fond of, and regularly purchases, casual clothing that moves away from the “all over” print like you find on so many of today’s brands.  The desired core demographic is specifically men and women between the ages of 16 and 35.

Approach

This project needed to be as funky, edgy and contemporary – from the clothes to the logo to the website.  A personal connection to the users/consumers was also required. Visitors to the site should not be left thinking this was some big clothing company without a face. People had to know they were dealing with the artist designing the work.  Visitors should be able to tell that the information and products were current.  Products and pricing updates as well as the general content maintenance was important.

Solution

1) Name & Logo/Brand Assets
The word “Project” appealed to me as it has duality in it’s meaning. It can mean “to put something out there” and it also describes the very nature of this undertaking. It certainly was a “project”. Both meanings were apt so Project Industries was born. The windmill in the logo was a departure from the usual “belching smokestacks” imagery that is usually associated with the word “industry”. It’s also relevant in terms of the new global “green” mindset.

2) Website
The website features a not-a-blog section (named in an effort to buck the “blog” trend on just about every website) which speaks to the consumers and keeps folks updated on recent goings on.  There are photo galleries featuring the artist and some actual (better looking) models wearing the clothes, as well as a gallery featuring customers and fans who send in photos of their own.

The CMS for this site is PHP/MySQL based.

Results

People have been purchasing the clothes! Most of the customers have been gained through word of mouth. The CMS is easy to use and helps keep the site as current as the administrators wish.
