Unique Building Design Criticized For 9/11 Resemblance.

MVRDV, an architectural firm in Rotterdam, is being criticized for a design they came up with for a project being planned for Seoul, Korea.  Some have said the design for the project, entitled "The Cloud", evokes images of the World Trade Center exploding, as it did on September 11, 2011.

It's not too difficult to see the resemblance, but personally I like the design. As I saw more of the images (above) representing the architect's inspiration and the design of the spaces in the two connected luxury residential towers, I found myself forgetting about the resemblance to the twin towers. I started liking the overall vision for the project and found myself quite impressed.

MVRDV is an architectural firm set up in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries.  They have posted the following on their site to address the criticism of the project:

"MVRDV regrets deeply any connotations The Cloud projects (sic) evokes regarding 9/11."
